This past weekend I went to Nevada to cheer Larry(my step-son)on while he competed in the SILVERMAN, his first Ironman distance race. The race began at 6:30 a.m. at Lake Mead and consisted of a 2.1 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride, and a 26.3 mile run. The day was so cold, I think the temperature was around 40 degrees, with rain, and wind, I myself was freezing, I couldn't imagine how the athletes must have felt. It took him 13 hours and 57 minutes to complete the race. He finished 58 overall and 6th in his age division. The race was grueling. I just want him to know how proud I am of him...I have gained so much respect for him. Larry you did an awesome job and we love you!

Wow, that sounds so grueling. Good job Larry Jr. that is quite an accomplishment!
Almost 14 hours? I can't even imagine that... it's a good thing they were able to wear wet suits in the water, that's probably the only thing that kept them from freezing! Congratulations little Larry:)!
How did I not see this post? It's amazing what you can do when you're determined. I agree with Abbey, good pictures
